This is a Fisher Studio Standard RS-2010 receiver with an equalizer built in. It was manufactured between 1978 and 1980 during the monster wars of the 70s. Fisher goes way back to the 60s with high end vacuum tube systems. When solid state emerged in the late 60s Fisher became a name of the past. Sanyo bought Fisher in the late 70s and resurrected the name. Their higher end receivers, like the RS-2010, were high quality, but Sanyo was known for mediocre quality when compared to other brands like Marantz, Pioneer, Kenwood and Sansui. Those brands owned the market at that time. That didn't stop Fisher/Sanyo from competing within this heavily competitive market.
The Fisher Studio Standard RS-2010 receiver has had both STK 0080 ICs replaced with newly designed Pyramid Audio replacements. Definitely a needed and costly upgrade. The power boards and preamp board were recapped. There were quite a few capacitors, transistors and diodes replaced. The main filters were found to be within specification. All 14 lights were replaced with LED lights. The tuner dial was a bit sloppy and my technician tightened it up. He also polished the inner side of the glass bezel where the AM/FM is seen.
It is a pretty machine now. The cabinet is free of any major defects. There are some minor scratches, but barely noticeable. The brushed aluminum face has a couple very small dings on the left side by the speaker knob. Hardly noticeable. It's gorgeous sounding especially with it's own equalizer or it can be shut off and the loudness button can be used. The RS-2010 handles 3 sets of speakers but only 2 at a time. If you are looking for monster receiver but don't want to spend thousands of dollars on one of the top brands from the 70s, this is a very good alternative that has been rebuilt and is just as good as it was new.
