Rich Buckler cover! “Chapter 4 - Flaky Puff (Isn't Sweet)” by Marty Greim, Dick Ayers and Tony DeZuniga sees Joe Higgins, The Shield and Tory Newton attempting to free themselves from a a collapsed abandoned mine, as his old foe The Hun and Flaky Puff attack the FBI office, looking for the 2nd half of the 42642 map! They get loose and The Shield takes on the Hun!! “Crusader Comments” is 2 pages of character insights by Rich Buckler, Bill Reinhold, Mike Cogliandro, Dan Marra and Sam de la Rosa! “Pick a Card” is a 1 pager by Frank Doyle and Stan Goldberg!
7 – May 1984 – NM-! “The Eliminators Chapter 2: The Untold Origin of the Jaguar!” by Cary Burkett, Rich Buckler and Tony DeZuniga! Remaining Crusaders try to locate their missing members and the Druid, Jaguar (Ralph Hardy) learns more of his powers' origins! The Druid succeeds in awaking Lord S'Ithh and bringing on a new Age of Reptiles, and turns the captured Crusaders into Zombies!! “Goodbye, Dali” stars Thunderbunny, as he foils a plot of a piggish-looking art collector wants his Dali original to increase in value, and wants to spray the other paintings in a museum with thick paint to ruin them!
8 – July 1984 – NM-! “Unholy Abyss of Agony!” by Cary Burkett, Adrian Gonzales, Rich Buckler and Ricardo Villagrán sees The remaining Crusaders - with Darkling's help - manage to save the possessed Crusaders and battle against dinosaurs brought to life by Lord S'Ithh! Jaguar then defeats Lord S'Ithh - now possessing the Druid's body - with help from Lord Varigon! “Shield Saves Hundreds!” is a trip down memory lane in a story made to look like pages out of a magazine! with Dick Ayers art! TRIVIA: This was the last Crusaders appearance of Lancelot Strong, as he is killed in Shield-Steel Sterling #3!!
9 – Sept. 1984 – VF! “Old Legends Never Die!” sees The Shield arrested for using excessive force during a jewel heist! Thomas Troy (The Fly) defends him, but the case goes badly until the Crusaders find out that the Brain Emperor was trying to frame him! John Raymond -- the original Web-- appears to be the father of the current Web! “Necklace of Eesalu” is 4 page Western by Marv Channing and Pencils by Doug Wildey!
11 – Mar. 1985 – NM-! “A Hero's Rage Chapter One” by Rich Margopoulos, Alan Kupperberg, Frank Giacoia and Joe Giella! Finding his uncle has been murdered, Kip Burland --the current Black Hood-- takes his uncle's costume and wears it out of respect. He then contacts the Crusaders to aid him in finding the Eraser and bringing him to justice. A tracking device sewn into the Black Hood's costume leads a trio of super-villains to the Crusaders headquarters and the Battle between the Crusaders and Buzzard, Sting, and the Eraser destroys the Crusaders' headquarters! It ends quickly when the Brain Emperor appears and takes control of the Crusaders. Dr. Reeves doesn't fall under the Emperor's control and is mortally wounded by Sting's toxic venom! Darkling escapes and recruits the Fox and the Comet to aid her in freeing the Crusaders. At the remains of the Crusaders headquarters they find Malcolm Reeves, who gives them a clue to the missing hero’s whereabouts before he passes away. The Comet then cremates the body with his disintegration vision. “Showdown in Space Chapter 4!” Darkling teleports the Fox and Comet to the Comet's ship, which has been taken over by the Brain Emperor and his cronies. The Brain Emperor mindwipes Darkling as she disappears into a mystic dimension. The Fox then battles everyone as the Comet takes on the Brain Emperor. The Comet then frees the Crusaders and sets the ship to explode, possibly killing the Buzzard, the Eraser, and Sting!
12 – June 1985 – NM-! “Liquid Fire!” sees The Crusaders save a tanker full of liquified natural gas from running aground and causing a potential disaster! “Moving Day!” sees them become sanctioned and sponsored by the US Government and they renovate their broken down brownstone in Greenwich Village into a proper headquarters! Unknown to the team, one of them is a spy for the government…! “Beware the She-Fox!” While the She-Fox and the Fox squabble while stopping a kidnapping, neither are aware that they are romantically involved with each other in their civilian identities! D’OH!
13 – Sept. 1985 – NM-! “The Man Who Hated the Crusaders” sees Shield and Black Hood join forces to stop a drug deal. The tables are turned though when the hoods summon superpowered help: Deadly Force and Redstone! The Black Hood that appears here is a more worldly character than the previous Black Hood and smokes cigars while on missions! “This Bus Station, This Battlefield!!” Jaguar and Comet fight Deadly Force! “Encore for the She-Fox!” sees Fox and She-Fox stop the youth only to find out about a car chop shop in the neighborhood! They stop fighting long enough to take down the chop shop crew and still have time to meet later at Delilah's apartment for a romantic rendezvous, still oblivious to each other's identity! Meanwhile, Kip Burland receives a CIA tip that someone in the Crusaders' is leaking information to the government. This was the final issue of this title and the traitor was never revealed, but implied to be Kip!
