463 - Sept. 1976 - VF/NM! "Death-Web!" is by Gerry Conway and Ernie Chan, as Batman ruins a million dollar drug transaction but gets injured in an explosion that killed one of the Gangsters as Police arrive! Batman tracks the 2nd Gangster who almost overwhelms him from being hurt but the criminal is shot dead as Batman meets a new Vigilante who calls himself The Black Spider!! After a brief fight, Black Spider gets the upper hand and tells the Dark Knight that he only followed his example, but with more definitive results! Batman soon passes out and wakes in Jim Gordon's office at the GCPD, who informs him that they found him next to the weapon used in Sugarman's murder! Batman realizes that Black Spider has framed him and escapes! At Gotham Airport, the BS throws Batman into the path of a landing Plane!! The Atom stars in "Crimes by Calculation!" as he tales on The Calculator after he steals an Earthquake machine and kills the inventor! by Bob Rozakis, Mike Grell and Terry Austin!
464 - Oct. 1976 - NM-! BOTH stories continue in Detective Comics #464! "The Doomsday Express" Batman learns that Black Spider was once a drug addict, but his addiction forced him to kill his own father and since that tragic day after spending years in prison, the man decided to fight drug lords by any means necessary! The Dark Knight tries to stop him from blowing up an elevated train containing one drug dealer and a mass of innocent people! Batman manages to save the train, but Black Spider apparently dies during the fall as the bomb explodes in his hands! After this encounter with such a ruthless vigilante, Batman starts considering where does he stand between the law and the criminals! The Calculator's machinations continue in "A Hot Time in Star City Tonight!" as he takes on Black Canary, who encounters the Calculator, who has created a condition in which every time the Canary uses her sonic cry, the temperature in the city will escalate to a frightening degree!
